Under the conviction that teaching is not single-dimensional, the MRL-IU organises educational events and programmes for the Ionian University and any other educational body with expressed interest in them. Special focus is on the development of museo-educational programmes, as the core of the Museology applied science.
“Creating our Own, Virtual Local Museum”
During the 2016-2017 school year, the MRL-IU developed and conducted in cooperation with the Kassiope Gymnasium (Corfu, Greece) a museo-educational programme, under the title “Creating our Own, Virtual, Local Museum”. The MRL-IU researcher and Gymnasium Teacher Panagiotis Sarantides was the coordinator, assisted by the philologists Elpida Kleronomou and Evangelia Kolyva, also teachers at the Gymnasium. The MRL-IU Director, Dr Georgios Papaioannou also contributed in the development of the programme. The methodology used in conducting the programme focused on the cross-curricular teaching, the collaborative teamwork, the experiential approach, the field research and creativity through New Technologies.
“Digital and Printed Illustration of Cultural Information Regarding the Church of Panaghia Kassopitra (Corfu, Greece)”
During the 2020-2021 school year, the MRL-IU has contributed to a School Cultural Activity, under the title “Digital and Printed Illustration of Cultural Information Regarding the Church of Panaghia Kassopitra (Corfu, Greece)”. The Activity’s coordinator was Panagiotis Sarantides, with support from the Lab’s Director, Dr Georgios Papaioannou, the economist, Kyriaki Papoulidou and the theologian, Ioanna Architektonidou. The programme’s aims were the development of the students’ appreciation for cultural information, their study of local heritage assets, the development of their aesthetics and their collaboration with organisations outside their school environment.
