The module examines:
- The historical development of the European integration
- The archiving policy
- The historical and active archives of the European Union
- The codification of the legislation of the European Union and the procedure of legislation
The aim of the module is student’s familiarization with knowledge connected with
- The functioning of the institutions of the European Union and its archiving policy
- The classification of the historical and active archives
- The numbering method of the EU documents
- The procedure of legislation and the activities of the networks of archiving services of the state members
After the successful completion of their studies students will be able to know:
- The functioning of the institutions of the EU and its archiving policy
- The classification of the historical and active archives
- The numbering method of the EU documents
- The procedure of legislation and the method of codification
- The networks of the archiving services of the state members and their activities

Week #5: The active archives of the EU
Week #6: The producing institutions and the content of the working documents
Week #7: The networks of the archiving services of the state members of the EU
Week #8: The historical archives of the EU belonging to the European University Institute of Florence (archiving collections of the EU institutions)
Week #9: The historical archives of the EU belonging to the European University Institute of Florence (private collections and political groups of the European Parliament)
