The Ionian University announces that, from September 1st, 2026, the Department of Archives, Library Science, and Museology will be renamed as the Department of Information Science, according to Government Gazette No. 4296 of August 7, 2025, Series B.
The new name reflects the Department’s evolution and the expansion of its academic and research fields, while preserving its long tradition and academic excellence in the fields of Archives, Libraries, Museums and Cultural Heritage. The Department continues to invest in education, research and innovation, linking information, data, digital technologies, artificial intelligence, and knowledge management to the needs of contemporary society.
The rename marks a new chapter of growth, outreach, and academic leadership.
