Short Description:

Archival - Finding Aids. Τhe meaning, the typology, the basic categories, the policies for their performance and implementation. Certain examples. International Standards:

  • ISAD(G): General International Standard Archival Description
  • ISAAR (CPF): International Standard Archival Authority Record For Corporate Bodies, Persons and Families
  • ISDIAH: International Standard for Describing Institutions with Archival Holdings
  • DiPPeL: International Standard For Describing Functions
Objectives - Learning Outcomes:

By successfully completing the course the student will be able to realize about the contact of Finding Aids and their application needs. An addition he will be able to have the Knowledge and the practice of International Standards for: Archival Description, Archival Authority Record For Corporate Bodies, Persons and Families, Describing Institutions with Archival Holdings and Describing Functions. He must know the necessity for their application aiming to the interoperability.

Week #2: Detailed description and purpose of each finding aid (part 1)

Week #3:  Detailed description and purpose of each finding aid (part 2)

Week #4: ISAD(G): General International Standard Archival Description (part 1)

Week #5: ISAD(G): General International Standard Archival Description (part 2)

Week #6: ISAAR (CPF): International Standard Archival Authority Record For Corporate Bodies, Persons and Families (part 1)

Week #7: ISAAR (CPF): International Standard Archival Authority Record For Corporate Bodies, Persons and Families (part 2)

Week #8: ISDIAH: International Standard for Describing Institutions with Archival Holdings

Week #9: DiPPeL: International Standard For Describing Functions

Week #10: Practical exercises about ISAD (G or Educational visit to the General Archives of the Corfu Prefecture.
