Dimitriou Yanna

Yanna Dimitriou studied History - Archeology at the University of Ioannina (Faculty
of Philosophy) and Archives and Library Science at the Ionian University. She had
postgraduate studies (MSc) in “Economic, Legal and Political Translation” and in
“History and Documentation of Contemporary Issues” (Ionian University). She
received her Ph.D. from the Department of Archives, Library Science and Museum
Studies “cum laude”. Her thesis topic was "Reading Societies: The case of Corfu
Reading Society" and it was supervised by Associate Professor Aliki Nikiforou. She
worked in public libraries, archives (General State Archives - Corfu), and in
secondary education for many years. Her publications and conference announcements
concern the documentation and promotion of the historical and cultural heritage of the
Ionian Islands and educational issues. She participated in the research project "The Archives of the Corfu Criminal Court: Recording, Impressing and Studying the phenomenon of violence and justice during the period of the Ionian State (1815-
1864)". She is a postdoctoral researcher under the supervision of Professor Theodoros Pappas and a member of the Laboratory of Historical and Cultural Heritage
Documentation. Her research interests focus on Greek Literature, Greek Culture, the
history of reading and books (mainly during the long 19th century), as well as on
issues of education and literacy.
