Michalis Sfakakis

He was born in Heraklion - Crete in 1961. Michalis holds a PhD degree in Information Science from the Department of Archives, Library Science and Museology at Ionian University and a degree in mathematics from the University of Crete. He was the President of the Hellenic General Council of Libraries at the Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs and worked for more than twenty five years at the National Hellenic Research Foundation / National Documentation Centre as project leader for the development of various information systems, including bibliographic and Integrated Library Management Systems, Federated search systems, etc. He has been Program Committee member for various international conferences and reviewer in scientific journals. His research interests include Libraries, Data Mining and Information Extraction, Knowledge Representation, Information Integration, Semantic Web, Metadata Semantic & Interoperability.
