Taking place: Ionian University, Corfu, Greece
25 to 26 June 2025

We are delighted to announce that By the Book10 will take place in Corfu, Greece.
By the Book10 will explore the transformative trends shaping the swiftly changing publishing industry today. With rapid advancements in technology, changing reader expectations, and new business models, the question of how publishing adapts to these challenges and new realities becomes ever more urgent. We invite discussions on the future of publishing, from technological innovations to the evolving roles of authors, publishers, and readers.

Plenary speakers:

Anna Karakatsouli is Professor of European History and Culture at the Theatre Studies Department, University of Athens; she is also the Director of the Book History Lab. She pursued her studies in history across institutions in Athens, Strasbourg, and Paris. Her professional tenure includes her role as an Expert Associate for UNESCO's project on the new edition of the History of Humankind in Paris, and as the Vice-director of the Alexander S. Onassis Foundation. Her recent academic contributions offer a critical examination of the publishing practices of far-right and extremist groups in Greece after 1974. She has written books and papers on the ongoing publishing challenges in Greek publishing.

Gino Roncaglia is a full professor of Philosophy of Information, Digital Publishing, and Digital Humanities at Roma Tre University (Rome, Italy) and honorary professor at the Universidad Nacional de Villa María in Argentina. He is the author of numerous books and papers on the future of the book, the use of digital tools and generative AI in the humanities, as well as Medieval and Renaissance logic. He has served as both an author and scientific consultant for several TV and radio programmes produced by the educational division of the Italian national broadcaster, RAI.

Josi Wismar is a SPIEGEL bestselling author and was named #BookTok Author of the Year at the TikTok Book Awards 2024. She studied Book Studies in Mainz, and nearly her entire life has revolved around the world of books. On her social media channels, Josi loves engaging with her readers, writing her latest book alongside her community during livestreams, and spending a dangerously large portion of her screen time on BookTok.
