WORKSHOP ON CULTURAL PROPERTY PROTECTION

Οn Wednesday, March 15, 2023, 18.00-20.00pm the UNESCO Chair of the Ionian University on Threats to Cultural Heritage and Geolab organize a virtual Workshop titled

‘Threats to Cultural Heritage: normative and ethical approaches and contradictions’, with simultaneous interpretation to Greek.

Speakers include Professors Stavros Katsios (moderator), Maria Bottis, Alexis Papadopoulos, Kalliopi Chainoglou and the archaeologists Dr Despoina Zernioti and

Dr Christos Tsirogiannis. The panel discussions will cover various topics related to the protection

of cultural heritage, such as the looting and illicit trade of cultural heritage, the destruction of cultural heritage in conflict and post-conflict situations

the role of international law and institutions in the protection of cultural heritage and the ethical and normative approaches to the protection of cultural heritage and

their potential contradictions.
